Miro made a strong impression when he joined AEW in 2020, capturing the TNT Championship early in his run. However, after being away from television for an extended period, he recently parted ways with the company. In fact, it has now been revealed that AEW had no creative plans for him for months before his release.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Miro was discussed for potential storylines in 2024, as he was healthy and ready to compete. However, the situation had been quiet for months before his release, with no creative plans for him in the past six months. Many in AEW had not expected him to return.

Miro has been absent from AEW since Worlds End 2023. He was earning a seven-figure salary after signing with AEW in September 2020. His initial deal was set to expire in spring 2022, but he later signed a four-year extension that would have kept him under contract until 2026.

Miro initially requested his AEW release in September 2024, and after months of waiting, it was finally granted this week. Many fans felt he was overlooked in AEW, as he didnt achieve much during his final year with the company. Now, all eyes are on whether he will make a WWE return this year.

Miros previous WWE run suffered due to inconsistent storytelling under Vince McMahon, which damaged his momentum and led to his release. If he chooses to return, it will be interesting to see if Triple H provides him with better opportunities this time around.
