Things have become quite tense between two reporters surrounding difference in opinions and facts on the Nico Harrison death threats.

On the weekend, ESPNs Tim MacMahon reported that the Dallas GM Harrison had received threats on his life from pissed off fans after he traded away the face of the franchise Luka Doncic and pretty much said he wasnt a good culture fit for the team.

But on Saturday before the Mavs first home game since the Luka trade, independent Mavericks reporter Grant Afseth disputed MacMahons report after speaking with the cops.

Dallas Police Departments Public Information Officer tells me, There are no known threats at this time, directed at Mavericks GM Nico Harrison, Afseth wrote on X. This comes despite ESPNs report yesterday on added security measures due to death threats ahead of Saturdays game vs. Rockets.

MacMahon didnt appreciate this and even seemingly calledAfseth a wannabe journalist on The Hoop Collective podcast.

Let me just double down on that reporting, he said on Monday. Because Ive been ripped because Dallas Police Department told some wannabe journalist that Theres no known threats to us. Uh, folks, the Mavericks have security thats literally been at the highest level of American law enforcement. The threats did not raise themselves to the level where they felt like they needed to be reported to police. But I guarantee you, and Ive heard from multiple sources, that hes received death threats.

Afseth saw the commenst and responded by calling out MacMahon by name.

Tim MacMahon: The threats did not raise themselves to the level that they needed to be reported to the police, Afseth wrote on X. Thats what some wannabe reporter reported the first time. I dont think its fair to give a fanbase or the city of Dallas an undeserving reputation on global TV.

Cant wait for the reporters next duel.
