Big E might not be wrestling anymore as his in-ring future is uncertain, but he has kept himself busy with projects outside the realm of wrestling. This includes his current role in the Marvel show Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on Disney+ and now he has explained how he bagged that role in the first place.

During an appearance on X-Pod 97, Big E revealed how he got the role in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. In March 2022, while still in a neck brace after breaking his neck, a casting director reached out to him through a direct message. At the time, he didnt have agents listed or an official contact email, so DMs were the best way to reach him. Luckily, he saw the message and responded.

The opportunity came through Jeff Trammell, the showrunner, who is a big wrestling and WWE fan. Initially, Big E was considered for a one-episode role, but his performance impressed the Marvel team and this led to a bigger part.

By 2023, while in Los Angeles with his creative partner Jonathan Davenport, he met with Jeff for lunch. Being part of a Marvel project was a dream come true for Big E, and he praised Jeff for his work on the show. Marvels team has been great to work with, and every time he records, he wishes he could do even more. What started as a simple DM turned into an amazing experience.
