Ric Flair remains one of the biggest legends in professional wrestling history. Fans were surprised when he joined AEW in 2023, but he hasnt appeared on AEW television since the Revolution pay-per-view last year. In fact, The Nature Boy has now addressed his status with the company.
Ric Flairs deal with AEW was different from a regular contract. Instead of being paid directly by AEW, his sponsorship with Wooooo! Energy covered his compensation. This setup was similar to WCWs past deal with Slim Jim, which helped bring in Randy Savage without the company paying him directly.
While speaking to Gabby AF, Ric Flair confirmed that he is no longer a sponsor for AEW and hasnt been involved with the company much recently. He explained that there isnt really anything for him to do there at the moment.
According to Flair, Tony Khan didnt initially realize he was on blood thinners, and once he found out, it ruled out any physical involvement. Flair mentioned that while he can still get in the ring and talk, his in-ring activity is limited.
There were indications last year that Ric Flairs partnership with AEW had ended already. In addition to that, he was initially planned to appear during the January 4th edition of AEW Collision at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina but plans were scrapped in the end.
With his AEW run seemingly over, Flair could still make sporadic wrestling appearances, but any physical involvement is unlikely due to his health concerns. Therefore, we will have to wait and see whats next in store for the WWE Hall of Famer.
