Although the topic of merger between PIF and PGA Tour has been current for months, in recent weeks there seems to be optimism that a final agreement could be reached. Namely, Adam Scott and Jay Monahan, PGA Tour commissioner, met with Donald Trump, hoping that the current US president would find a solution for the chaotic situation on the golf scene.
Although Monahan has previously shared messages of optimism, this time he seems to be just as optimistic, but with a touch of caution. The PGA Tour commissioner believes that things are moving forward, but he is not sure when the final agreement will be reached.
I dont think youre ever close until youre finalized, Monahan said, as quoted by SB Nation.
I would say this: Everything is moving forward with pace, and I think theres a general when you look at all the parties involved, theres a general enthusiasm for getting this [deal] done.

Rory McIlroy, a prominent figure on the PGA Tour, has a slightly different view, believing that things are not as complicated as they are presented. His message could be confirmation that one or both sides have specific demands that are probably a bit unrealistic to achieve. Is compromise the right solution?
From my viewpoint, I dont think its complicated at all, McIlroy said.
Rory McIlroy: We dont look to the past
The Northern Irish golfer, although he primarily had violent attitudes and a negative opinion about LIV Golf, after some time softened his attitudes, considering that LIV has the right to be on the golf scene. This is the reason why Rory believes that fans, golfers and Tour officials should forget the past and focus on the future.
Although Rory is aware that there are tensions on both sides, he believes that it can do no good for anyone.

I think everyones just got to get over it, and we all have to say, OK, this is the starting point, and we move forward. We dont look behind us. We dont look to the past. Whatevers happened has happened, and its been unfortunate, but reunification, how we all come back together and move forward, is the best thing for everyone, McIlroy continued.
The 35-year-old sends a clear message to everyone: You should not have hurt feelings because of the departure of some of the golfers, it is necessary to move forward. McIlroy is in favor of unification, hoping that this sport will finally go in the right direction.
