Angelique Kerber has shared some happy news as the German tennis legend is pregnant with her second child.

Shortly after concluding her 2022 Wimbledon run, the former world No. 1 announced she was expecting her first child.

A couple of months, she became a mother after a baby girl Liana was born.

"Welcome to our family, Liana," Kerber wrote when announcing the birth of her first child in 2023 February.

"Having you with us is the most beautiful & overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined."

Now, two years after welcoming her first child, the 37-year-old German is set to add another member to her family.

"Counting down the days for someone special to arrive in our family," the former three-time Grand Slam champion captioned her Instagram post.

Kerber made a post-pregnancy return but her comeback lasted only seven months

When the German announced she was pregnant for the first time, she also instantly confirmed that she would return to tennis.

And her post-pregnancy comeback officially started at the 2024 United Cup.

Then, seven months later, Kerber announced that the Paris Olympics would be the last pro tournament of her career.

"The finish line. Before the @Olympics begin, I can already say that I will never forget #Paris2024, because it will be my last professional tournament as a tennis player," she announced in late July.

"And whereas this might actually be the right decision, it will never feel that way. Simply because I love the sport with all my heart and Im thankful for the memories and opportunities it has given me."

While Kerber didn't really have a great 2024 and she entered the Olympics riding a five-match losing streak, she managed to put up a good run in Paris as she made the quarterfinal before losing in three tight sets to eventual gold medalist Zheng Qinwen.
