Samantha Irvin made a name for herself as one of WWEs most distinctive ring announcers, but according to her, if Vince McMahon was still running things, she wouldnt have been in that role for long.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Irvin opened up about her exit from WWE in October 2024, revealing that she never saw ring announcing as her long-term future. In fact, she always expected someone to move her into a different rolebut that never happened.
Growing up with Vince, honestly, if there was a Samantha Irvin, Vince would have taken her off of ring announcing. He would have been like, Put her somewhere else and have her do something else, she said.
She admitted that from the start, her goal was to make ring announcing such a spectacle that WWE would be forced to move her. When they asked me to do it, I said, Im going to inject some crack into this so that they move me off of it. Im going to make this the biggest thing ever.
But instead of getting reassigned, Irvin became a fan favorite in the role. While shes proud of what she accomplished, she says it wasnt enough to keep her interested. Ring announcing is not my goal, and Im very goal-oriented. When I accomplished all of that stuff, it was, Okay, thats it. Now Im going to keep doing it, and there is nothing else to work for or reach, thats when I had to step away.
Even though shes done with WWEfor nowIrvin isnt closing the door on a wrestling return. She says she just needs the right opportunity where she can truly create something new. If there is some work that needs to be done and something that I think needs to be improved and I can contribute, Im going to finagle my way back in there when the time is right, wherever that may be.
Irvin is also stepping into music, with a new single dropping on February 14th. Whether she ends up back in wrestling or not, its clear shes focused on making her next move count.
