The Final Boss is stepping into the underworld of paradise. Deadline reports that The Rock is teaming up with Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Emily Blunt for a Hawaii-set crime epic described as The Departed meets Goodfellas.
The A24-backed project tells the true story of a charismatic mob boss who rises to power in 1960s and 70s Hawaii, taking on rival syndicates and corporate giants in a bloody war for control.
Its based on the untold true story of a man who fought to preserve his homeland through a ruthless quest for absolute powerigniting the last great American mob saga, where the war for cultural survival takes place in the unlikeliest of places: paradise.
According to Deadline, it was The Rock and Emily Blunt who pitched the idea to Scorsese and DiCaprio, bringing the Hollywood heavyweights on board for what could be one of the biggest crime dramas in years.
With The Smashing Machine already on the way, The Rock is proving hes ready to dominate Hollywoods most elite acting circles. But can he hold his own in a Scorsese crime epic alongside DiCaprio? Will this be his defining dramatic role? Only time will tell.
