The agreement between Jannik Sinner and WADA has created a very big debate in the last week. The world number 1 who should have been judged by the CAS in Lausanne after the hearing on 16 and 17 April has agreed to reach an agreement with WADA that provides for a three-month suspension (from 9 February to 4 May).

The Italian ace will have to miss six tournaments, including four Masters 1000, but he can be pleased because he will be regularly in action at the Rome Masters 1000 and Roland Garros. His legal team revealed that it took some time to convince him to accept this deal, but it was the best solution for all parties involved.

The other players and insiders did not like this solution very much and several of them expressed all their disappointment.
The 3-time Grand Slam champion would have risked a suspension of one to two years if he had reached the trial before the CAS in Lausanne, while the agreement allows him not to miss any Major tournament and probably return to action as world number 1.
On the latest edition of 'The Tennis Podcast', former Australian star Sam Stosur expressed her candid opinion on this case: My point of view used to be very black and white. You get caught, you are done no matter what.

But I have to say in this instance, where all those things are the facts, like its been proven from many, many doctors and people going through this, a player shouldnt be banned for this, in my opinion, you shouldnt be now one or two years banned, which is normally what would happen.
She continued: So Im glad in the sense that that is the case, but I think now it needs to maybe open the door that other players are going to have these opportunities to say Oh, hang on a second, Ive got a reason for this, can I keep playing? I shouldnt miss all these tournaments.
I shouldnt be penalized with points or prize money or anything like that. So I think its a really tricky situation all this anti-doping stuff.
