Carmelo Hayes is always looking to elevate his game, and that includes rethinking his signature Nothing But Net finishing move.

While speaking with No Holds Barred for The Toronto Sun, the WWE star opened up about how the move became a staple of his offenseand why he might be looking for something new.

I used to do it on the independents, but it was a throwaway because then you dont know better, whats what, Hayes explained. Then you get to WWE and your skills get honed. I remember Shawn [Michaels], I remember I brought it up, I was like, I can do this move off the top rope. I was working with a bunch of big guys at that time. I was working with Josh Briggs and Duke Hudson, so I was working with these huge guys. I remember thinking, I need a finish, something that I can do. I can do this move.

According to Hayes, WWE Performance Center head coach Matt Bloom had concerns about the moves sustainability. Thats a big move, its not a move youre gonna be able to do every night, Bloom warned. Hayes wasnt deterred, replying, Oh, I dont plan on it.

It was Shawn Michaels who insisted that Nothing But Net become his go-to move. You gotta have a finish thats over and everybody knows, so he was very adamant, youre hitting your finish, youre hitting your finish, Hayes recalled.

Since then, Hayes has hit the move over 100 times, perfecting the landing to minimize impact on himself. But even with Nothing But Net locked in, hes considering switching things up. I am playing with finding a different finish because I have a deep move set that I can throw in there here and there, so Im looking into something else possibly.

If Hayes does introduce a new finisher, itll be a game-changer for his matches moving forward. But will he actually move on from Nothing But Net, or is this just a tease?

Should Carmelo Hayes add a new finishing move, or stick with Nothing But Net? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
