Golf Channel analyst Johnson Wagner had an interesting reaction to Rory McIlroy's statements during the press conference at the Genesis Invitational. The well-known analyst could not remain deaf to the statements of the Northern Irishman regarding the situation between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Namely, the 35-year-old stressed that the current situation on the golf scene has brought benefits to golfers who now earn significantly more, feeling that this would not have been possible without the arrival of LIV.

Wagner reacted furiously to such statements, stressing that McIlroy has a limited view of the situation. The analyst notes that Rory didn't mention the sponsors that pay the bills, confirming that TV is also down.
Johnson Wagner: I think his agent reached out to someone higher up at Golf Channel
After Wagner's statements, Rory McIlroy sent him an email visibly frustrated by such behavior. It is also interesting that Rory's agent decided to contact some important people from the Golf Channel.
He emailed me Thursday night and weve traded a couple of correspondences, but I have not heard back from him since the first one, Wagner said, as quoted by Golf.
I think his agent reached out to someone higher up at Golf Channel. And like, you know, the thing I said at the end of my rant was that hes angering me and thats the only thing that Im sorry for. The rest of it, I stand by completely. Because I guess in this position, I need to take the emotions out of it a little better. And Im going to try to do that going forward.

Johnson Wagner obviously still stands by the same views, believing that everything he said is the absolute truth. On the other hand, McIlroy does not seem particularly impressed by these words of a well-known golf personality.
The Northern Irishman is often under this kind of pressure, but it was clear that his statement would produce reactions.
