After WWE filed a trademark for Kalyx, fans immediately assumed it was a new ring name for Sol Ruca, whose real name is Calyx Hampton. But thats not exactly the case here.
According to Fightful Select, the name is for Jessika Carr, WWEs first full-time female referee, who has quietly been making moves to return to in-ring action. Sources within WWE claim Carr has been competing under a mask at the recent Evolve tapings, and Kalyx is her new identity.
Carr isnt new to wrestling. Before donning the stripes, she wrestled for years under the names Kennadi Brink, Jessie Kaye, and Kennedy Lewis in NXT and the independent scene. Now, it looks like WWE is giving her another shot inside the ring.
Reports say WWE has already filmed six episodes of Evolve, and Carr competed on the fourth, wrestling in a tag team match where her team was already in the ring before the match started, meaning she didnt get a full entrance.
With WWE now expanding Evolve as a developmental system, it looks like Carr is testing the waters for a possible full-time return to competition. Whether this leads to something bigger in NXT or beyond remains to be seen, but the fact that WWE went as far as trademarking a name suggests there are serious plans in place.
Do you think Jessika Carr should return to wrestling full-time, or is she more valuable as a referee? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
