Nick Dinsmore, better known to WWE fans as Eugene, just dropped a jaw-dropping revelation about how much he made from WWE video gamesand lets just say, it wasnt pocket change.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Dinsmore looked back at his time appearing in WWE Day of Reckoning 2, WWE WrestleMania 21, and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2006. While he was never a top guy in WWE, his video game royalties told a different story.
So I was on WrestleMania 21, which came out, I think, in April, and that would have been on one quarter royalty check. Then I was in Day of Reckoning, which came out, I think, in maybe August, which would have been on the next quarter royalty check. But the SmackDown vs. Raw 2006 came out in November of 2005 right before Christmas, and it was a huge seller. So this video game was the biggest payday on a quarter royalty check that I made.
Then he dropped the number. For that quarter royalty check, I was always told youre not supposed to say specific numbers, but I made $86,000. In one quarter royalty check. Ill say it again: $86,000, and my mind was blown.
Dinsmore was so stunned by the amount that he couldnt help but imagine the kind of money the real megastars were raking in. My God, I could have bought a house. I could have bought several cars. I could have bought a vacation. I could have bought, I dont know, new hair. I could have bought anything. $86,000 for being in one video game. Can you imagine what guys like The Rock and Stone Cold were making for being in several video games, time after time? These guys had to be making millions on a core royalty check. I was happy with $86,000, the biggest check I ever made in my life.
This puts a whole new perspective on how much WWE stars have made from their likeness in video games. If Dinsmore pulled in that kind of money for one game, what were the biggest names in the business cashing in?
Do you think todays WWE superstars are making this kind of money from video games, or has the industry changed? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
