Taylor Fritz is withdrawing from the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco due to an abdominal issue as the American reveals he tried to play through the injury but it simply wasn't getting better.

This year, the world No. 4 was slated to be one of the biggest names in Acapulco and the tournament's No. 2 seed - just behind Alexander Zverev.
Since starting his career, the 27-year-old has been pretty much a regular at the Mexican Open.
But Fritz's seventh appearance at the event won't come this year.
In the past, the American finished as runner-up to Rafael Nadal in the 2020 Acapulco final and he was also a semifinalist at the event two years ago.
Fritz: I can't play 100 percent, I'm avoiding certain shots...
"Really sad that I have to pull out of Acapulco this year. Ive been dealing with an abdominal injury since the week before Dallas," the 2024 US Open runner-up announced on Instagram.
"I have been playing through the injury, hoping that it could get better because several parts of my game were and still are pain free.

"Im at a point now where it has not improved and its frustrating to be playing when I know I cant play 100% and am avoiding certain shots or just hitting shots differently then I normally would to avoid the pain.
"Acapulco has always been one of my favorite events and Im really sorry to let the tournament down. Im hoping that giving it this week to rest and rehab will get me back to 100% soon."
After losing in the Australian Open third round and returning to action in Dallas, Fritz slammed the balls used in Australia as "the deadest ever" and blamed them for an oblique injury.

While he decided to play his home tournaments in Dallas and Delray Beach, it didn't go well since the world No. 4 only went 2-2.
