John Cena is suiting up once again as Peacemaker, and fans wont have to wait much longer to see him back in action. HBO has confirmed that Season 2 of Peacemaker is locked in for a 2025 premiere, with Cena reprising his role as the gun-toting, ultra-patriotic antihero.
According to Deadline, DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have assured that the second season remains on schedule for an August release. Filming wrapped in November 2024, setting the stage for another round of mayhem. Gunn, who wrote all eight episodes of Season 1 and directed fiveincluding the premiereis once again at the helm.
The series, which also stars Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, and Chukwudi Iwuji, broke records when it first debuted. The Season 1 finale on February 17, 2022, set a single-day viewership record for the Max streaming service, proving just how much fans embraced Cenas over-the-top portrayal of the character.
Before Peacemaker returns, DC plans to drop Waller, another spinoff set within the same universe, but all eyes are on Cenas return as the character who values peace so much hes willing to kill for itliterally.
While Cena continues to carve out his place in Hollywood, his WWE future remains uncertain. He previously announced his plans to retire from full-time wrestling by the end of 2025, but hes still got unfinished business inside the ring. After competing at the Royal Rumble, Cena has been absent from WWE television, but that changes this Saturday at Elimination Chamber.
