Padraig Harrington had many interesting situations throughout his career, some more successful, some less successful, but overall his career is filled with successes and great moments. However, in a recent appearance on the Cookie Jar Golf podcast, Harrington recalled the 2011 US Open, emphasizing Rory McIlroy's dominance.

Then, as a 21-year-old, Rory appeared and wowed the golf public. Before the start, the experienced golfer was very optimistic that he could make a big success, but the young golfer surprised everyone.

"Rory broke me in 2011," Harrington said, as reported by Fresno Bee.

"[He] broke everybody, but I was the best player. That's what I believed. So I've gone into Congressional. I played a practice round with Adam Scott on Wednesday. He [Scott] came in and did an interview and told everybody to go home. He says, 'You might as well go home. Padraig Harrington is winning this.' I am... in my head, I am the best player."

The Irish golfer wanted to keep up the pace, considering that before that he seemed very impressive. However, after seeing Rory McIlroy's moves, Padraig was surprised, and realized that it was impossible to compete against him.

"I've won three majors just recently. I'm in great form. I prepared right. I go into this tournament and Rory does something that I can't compete with. Wipes the floor. Like we're all the same. He's just blown us all away."

Padraig Harrington is focused on himself

The experienced golfer had nothing against that, looking back at the moment when Tiger Woods stepped onto the golf scene in the early 2000s, wowing everyone. Harrington had no problem accepting that someone was better or that he was dominating at a given moment.

Padraig admits that he has always been the type of golfer who didn't particularly look at others, always looking at how he could improve. The experienced golfer believes that since 2011 he has not been good enough, feeling that he needs to be a better version if he wants to compete with the Northern Irishman.
