Asuka is hailed as one of the best female in-ring competitors in WWE and she is incredibly proud of what she has managed to accomplish in the company. Thats precisely why it comes as no surprise she shut down a fan who insulted the match.
The Empress of Tomorrow took to Twitter and stated that her match with Mickie James at NXT TakeOver was a great match, saying, This was a really great match. Many fans agreed with what Asuka said as well.
However, a fan then took to Twitter and dismissed the match as generic WWE content. The fan argued that real great womens wrestling happens in Japan and suggested that if the match had taken place in Stardom, it would have been better. He also included the cagematch rating for the bout, which was 6.93 overall.
Asuka fired back, questioning why anyone would let worthless, garbage reviews influence their choices. She compared it to relying on reviews for games or cars, saying opinions mean nothing. She added that theres nothing more pathetic than giving up your own judgment to someone elses opinion, encouraging people to think for themselves.
Asuka continued by saying that if she wrestled just to satisfy reviews, every match would feel like industrial waste. She argued that fans dont actually want mass-produced, identical matches.
Instead, she wants to embrace a bad match for the chaos it brings and fully appreciate a great match as the masterpiece it deserves to be. In the end, she stated that love is what truly matters.
What Asuka said simply reminds fans that wrestling, like any entertainment, is a matter of personal taste. Reviews and ratings can help, but they shouldnt decide what you enjoy. Whether a match is seen as a classic or a mess, the most important thing is the passion and love for wrestling.
