Rory McIlroy later admitted how difficult it was to accept such a defeat, especially when we know that McIlroy has been short of winning the Majors for years.
Bryson DeChambeau joined LIV Golf a few years ago, and it seems that golf fans are finding it even harder to accept such an outcome when they know that a player from the controversial Tour won in such a way.

"As crushing as a defeat that I have had, it was probably the toughest finish to a tournament Ive ever had," said McIlroy
"I think missing the putt on 16, which I hadnt done all week, I feel like that putt sort of let Bryson back into the tournament."
The Northern Irishman explained why he headed home immediately after the defeat. The 35-year-old explains that at that moment he didn't want to talk to anyone or look at anyone. His priority was to get on a plane and head home.
