Taylor Fritz's 2025 season started less brilliantly than the second half of 2024, in which he had achieved the best results of his entire career. The American ace had reached his first final in a Major tournament at the US Open, the semifinals at the Rolex Shanghai Masters and the final at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.
In the two most prestigious matches of his career so far the finals of the US Open and the ATP Finals it was always the current world number 1 Jannik Sinner who prevented him from lifting the trophy.
Despite those losses, Fritz's progresses was evident to everyone and important results were expected even at the beginning of 2025.
The world number 4 had started well at the United Cup, but the premature loss against Gael Monfils at the Australian Open cracked his certainties a bit in the following weeks.
The 2024 US Open finalist also suffered an injury recently and had to miss the Acapulco ATP 500 this week, despite having already arrived on-site.
Fritz on facing Jannik andCarlitos
Although his latest results have been disappointing, Taylor is continuing to work with his team with the aim of defeating Sinner and Alcaraz.
The Italian and the Spaniard are the two leaders of the men's tour right now and it is necessary to beat them to win a Grand Slam title.
In an interview with 'TennisConnected', Fritz reflected on facing Jannik and Carlitos: "The way I deal with them varies depending on the surface, the balls and the speed of the court. On slow courts I struggle to keep on the diagonal of the backhand, because both manage to put me in difficulty.
On the faster fields, I try to be more aggressive from the baseline. I feel better against Carlos' backhand, but when I face Jannik I try to push more on his forehand.
The American will try to be 100% fit for the start of the American Masters 1000. Fritz triumphed in Indian Wells in 2022, while last year he stopped in the round of 16.
