2023 saw theintegration of WWE and UFC into the TKO umbrella, marking a significant shift in the landscape of sports entertainment. With that said, it appears TKO has now announced a Takeover in Kansas city.
Kansas City is set to become the epicenter of sports and entertainment this April as TKO Group Holdings brings WWE, UFC, and Professional Bull Riders to the T-Mobile Center for an action-packed five-day event.
This marks the first-ever TKO Takeover Presented by VeChain, a groundbreaking collaboration that will see three of the biggest brands in combat sports and entertainment unite for a historic weekend.
On April 24 (Thursday), the Professional Bull Riders will kick off the event series. Two days later, on April 26 (Saturday), UFC Fight Night will take place. The takeover will conclude on April 28 (Monday) with WWE Raw.
Kansas Citys rich history with WWE, UFC, and PBR made it the perfect choice for this first-ever TKO Takeover. According to Peter Dropick, Executive Vice President of Event Development and Operations for TKO, this event will showcase three premier properties in one city at the same time for the benefit of fans and visitors to the area.
Kathy Nelson, President and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission and Visit KC, talked about the economic impact of these events, saying, These events will generate significant economic impact for our hotels and local businesses, as well as shine a spotlight on Kansas City through broadcast programming and social media.
The TKO Takeover in Kansas City marks the beginning of a new era in sports and entertainment, blending the best of wrestling, MMA, and bull riding into a single weekend. As TKO continues to expand its footprint, this event could set the standard for future multi-sport collaborations.
