Eddie Kingston is keeping it real about his recovery, and it hasnt been easy. The AEW star has been out of action since May 2024 after suffering a brutal tibular fracture and multiple ligament tears during a match with Gabe Kidd. Fans have been vocal about his absence, saying AEW just isnt the same without him.
In a new interview with Will Turner of Wrestling With The Narrative, Kingston didnt sugarcoat anything when asked how hes been doing mentally and physically. Physically, I feel like shit. Mentally, I feel like shit. So every day, Im just working on getting better, you know what Im saying? he admitted.
On top of his struggles with physical therapy, Kingston has been dealing with unexpected health issues. Physical therapy, its been tough just to get to physical therapy because of my insurance. I just got new insurance and then right when I was ready to start my new PT place, I started getting stomach issues, he shared. Doctors had to perform a procedure to check for serious conditions, but initial results came back clear. No cancer, no ulcer, no nothing, Kingston confirmed. But stress? Thats a different story. My primary doctor was like, Hows stress for you? [laughs] I said, How long do you have, do we need a therapist to come in here?
Wrestling is everything to Kingston, and being away from the ring has taken a toll on him. Not having that has really messed with my head. Thank god I have a good lady and I got good friends around me, Im not gonna mention who because some work at other companies [laughs] and I dont want to ruin their stuff, he said. Kingston added that his current look is a reflection of what hes going through. As you can see, no haircut, no shave, going through my Brody era. Homicide and my mother said I look like Brody. She goes, You look like that crazy guy you used to always watch.
Its been a rough road for Kingston, but hes doing his best to push through. Fans can only hope to see him back in the ring when hes ready.
