WASHINGTON (BRAIN) President Donald Trump announced on social media Thursday that he will impose an additional 10% tariff on imports from China, on top of the 10% he announced earlier this year.
For many bike products, that means an additional 45% in tariffs has been added since last June, when exclusions expired for the 25% Section 301 tariffs imposed during the first Trump administration. The 45% is in addition to any pre-existing duties, which are 5.5% or 11% on most bikes, 5-11% on many parts, and 0% on e-bikes.
Also on Thursday Trump confirmed in a social media post that new tariffs on Mexican and Canadian goods will take effect March 4. Trump had announced those tariffs in late January and then after discussions with leaders of each country said on Feb. 3 that he would delay the tariffs' implementation by 30 days.
