Chile's Nicolas Jarry had a message for his critics following his early Chile Open loss, telling them he is hoping they also criticize themselves and their kids when they don't do something right.

Since the world No. 45 was a home player in Santiago, there were hopes and expectations that he would do well.

But his campaign was short-lived after the 2022 Wimbledon quarterfinal missed out on three match points in the first round in a 7-5 3-6 6-7 (9) loss to 69th-ranked Ugo Carabelli.

By exiting the Chile Open in the first round, Garin concluded his Golden Swing campaign with a 1-3 record - previously, he lost in the Buenos Aires first round and only made the Rio de Janeiro round-of-16.

Overall, the last month and a half hasn't been easy for the three-time ATP champion, who has lost five of his last six matches.

Jarry: I hope you are as critical with yourselves and your children as you are with me

Its not easy to return after being unable to compete for 6 months, but here I am, trusting the process and trying to regain my confidence, the former world No. 16 said in an Instagram message.

A huge thanks to my team who supports me a lot and believes in me. Thanks to my family and everyone who supports me through the good and the bad.

I wish there were no tough times. I try to work and push myself harder than anyone, but sometimes, its the road we must learn from.

"To those who criticize, I hope you are as critical with yourselves and your children as you are with me.

"And to those who support me, THANK YOU! Theres still a lot ahead of me to prove. Im disconnecting now to come back strong in Indian Wells.

After posting three consecutive winning seasons between 2021 and 2023, Jarry went 19-24 last year.

His start to the 2025 season hasn't been promising either but there is still a lot of time left for the 29-year-old to fix his situation.
