One of the brightest talents on the ATP tour is certainly Learner Tien, who has had very significant growth in late 2024 and early 2025. In particular, the young American ace has made himself known all over the world thanks to two very prestigious victories in this start of the season.

The 19-year-old American defeated Daniil Medvedev in the second round of the Australian Open, showing that he has remarkable mental strength considering that the Russian ace had recovered two sets from him and seemed ready to prevail in the fifth set.
Tien had dropped in the second half of the match, but he had been good at not giving up and taking advantage of the uncertainties of the finalist of the 2024 edition.
As everyone knows, the player from Moscow is not going through the best moment of his career and has suffered several shocking defeats in the last year, but it was still not easy for the American to handle the pressure of a huge chance in a Grand Slam tournament.

His performance against the German champion was very close to perfection and without Joao Fonseca's impressive rise in recent months perhaps more would be talked about about Tien's talent.
Speaking on the Tennis Channel, former WTA star Lindsay Davenport analyzed Tien's rise in the professional tour in detail: I have known Learner since he was in the 14 and unders. I used to drive him to USTA practice and Carson, with my son. We would carpool.
Hes always been wildly talented. The shots that he was able to hit, you would laugh at in the juniors. Nobody is hitting these crazy angles and these drop shots.
To see him be able to put it together and get more power on his shots as well to be able to hang in there with the pros has been fun to see. Ive always been a huge fan.
