WWE held the February 28 episode of SmackDown in Toronto. The event included a match to determine who will face Shinsuke Nakamura next for the United States Championship.

This week on SmackDown, a Triple Threat Match took place to determine the new number one contender for the United States Championship.

Shinsuke Nakamura is the United States Champion, but that cant last forever. He needs a new challenger at this point, and WWE is figuring that out on SmackDown.

Jacob Fatu and Andrade had a singles match, which was the second of the night tonight. This came after Chelsea Green and Tiffany Strattons match ended in chaos. This was quite a battle that Jacob Fatu kept control of for most of it.

Fatu went on to compete in a #1 contenders triple threat match for the US Title. Jacob Fatu earned the win, and now he is one step closer to a United States title shot against Shinsuke Nakamura. We will have to see what the road holds for Fatu in the future, but he is still getting booked incredibly well.

The second match took place later on in the night, where LA Knight took on Santos Escobar. Those two are no strangers in the ring, and they both battled hard to get a spot in the triple threat match. After a nice match that went through a commercial break, LA Knight nailed a BFT out of midair and he won the match. Now LA Knight is in the triple threat match.

Carmelo Hayes and Braun Strowman battled in the third qualifying match. Hayes ignored Mizs invitation to be with him at ringside, because he said he could do things by himself. During the match, Tama Tonga created a distraction and then Solo Sikoa whacked Braun with a chair, but he no-sold it to take care of the heels. Then Carmelo Hayes faked a chair attack from Strowman and won via DQ. That was shades of Eddie Guerrero, and it may have been The Mizs idea as well.

The #1 contender match for the United States Title was set to be Jacob Fatu, LA Knight, and Carmelo Hayes. Shinsuke Nakamura said he wanted to face a worthy warrior for his title. The three threw down later on in the night, and in the end, LA Knight got the win after he pinned Hayes following a melee of moves from Jacob Fatu.

We will have to see how Shinsuke Nakamura does against LA Knight. It seems that the Megastar has a chance to get his US Title back now.
