Just when it seemed like Vince McMahon was done with wrestling, former WWE writer Vince Russo is stirring up speculation about a potential comeback. While McMahon has been the subject of rumors regarding a new entertainment venture, Russo believes theres still a chance he could return to the business that made him a billionairebut only if he clears his legal troubles.
Speaking on The Wrestling Outlaws, Russo suggested that McMahon is far from finished, despite reports that hes moving on from wrestling. According to Russo, the key to McMahons possible return lies in resolving the lawsuit filed against him by former WWE employee Janel Grant.
I think if the Janel Grant thing is settled, definitely. Hes not done. Hes not done bro if that thing gets settled, Russo stated, making it clear that he doesnt believe McMahon is walking away from wrestling completely.
McMahons legal troubles have been a major roadblock to any potential return. The 79-year-old has been under federal investigation following Grants lawsuit, which accused him of serious misconduct during his time running WWE. However, McMahon recently announced that the criminal charges against him were dropped, claiming the allegations stemmed from a minor accounting error.
While it remains unclear how the lawsuit will play out, Russo believes that if McMahon can put it behind him, nothing will stop him from getting back into the wrestling business. However, he also doesnt think McMahon would return under the umbrella of Endeavor or TKO Group Holdings, which now owns WWE. Instead, Russo speculates that McMahon would go at it alone.
I dont think so. I think he would do something on his own, Russo added, dismissing the idea that McMahon would ever work with Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel again.
For now, McMahon remains focused on his mystery entertainment project, and sources close to him have already denied that it involves professional wrestling. However, McMahon is known for making bold moves when people least expect them.
