Federico Gomez is coming off his breakthrough season on the Tour but it is far from perfect in the Argentine tennis player's world as the 28-year-old described the last six months as "the hardest" period of his life and also revealed that he has been battling suicidal thoughts.

After winning only his first ITF title in 2023, the Argentine started making his first notable results in the second part of 2024 after landing three Challenger titles, which led to him finishing the season ranked inside the top-140.
But before 2024 June, he had never been ranked inside the top-300 in the world.
While Gomez's career appeared to finally be on the rise, he declared 2024 "the worst on a personal level."
This year, the world No. 135 started his season by winning two qualifying matches to qualify for the ATP event in Brisbane.
Since then, he has lost his last six matches.
And now, the Argentine - who achieved a career-high ranking of No. 133 in early February - wanted to share something with his fans.
Gomez: Living with thoughts of quitting tennis, leaving this world...
"Living with thoughts of quitting tennis completely, of really questioning whether all of this is really worth it and even on repeated occasions suicidal thoughts of not wanting to live anymore and leaving this world, which I find very difficult to express but I wanted you to know so that you can understand actions or behaviors that I possibly had in this last period and this seeks to explain that a little," the three-time Challenger champion wrote on Instagram.

"It's hard for me to write all this without crying my eyes out, but I think it's the best decision I could have made at this moment to get rid of this huge weight that I feel on top of me and that eats my head 24/7."
In the same message, Gomez said he hopes this will help him feel better and ultimately get back to a good place in life.
