Emma Navarro landed her second title at the WTA 500 tournament in Merida and it came in some style after the American registered a highly impressive double-bagel 6-0 6-0 win over Emiliana Arango.

En route to the Merida final, the top seed won her opening three matches in straight sets and there was no doubt that she was the favorite.

But on the other side, Arango won a total of six matches - two qualifying and four main draw - on her way to reaching the title match.

Also, the Colombian entered the final on an 11-match winning streak, having won the WTA 125 (Challenger) tournament in Cancun in mid-February.

The 24-year-old may have been playing the tennis of her life lately but against Navarro she stood no chance and the nerves of playing her first WTA final evidently played a role.

Early in the match, Arango was making some easy mistakes and she only had one game point during the entire first set.

The second set was a similar story, only this time the world No. 133 didn't have any game or break points.

Navarro becomes the fifth player since 2000 to win a WTA final with a double bagel

Today, the 23-year-old American became only the fifth player this century to register a 6-0 6-0 victory in a WTA final.

Also, it is the first case of this happening since Iga Swiatek crushed Karolina Pliskova 6-0 6-0 in the 2021 Rome Open final.

Meanwhile, Navarro now has two WTA titles in her collection - she became a WTA champion in Hobart in 2024 January.

On the other side, Arango failed to win her maiden title on the main level but she will still enter the top-100 for the first time in her career on Monday.
