Longtime sports columnist Jason Whitlock has taken aim at LeBron James after comments on the new face of the league.
The LeBron James pity party must end, Whitlock wrote on X. He chose to enter the Opinion Olympics. He launched a barbershop talk show and now wants to complain about barbershop sports conversations. Stop it. He decided to bring his unqualified opinions into the political arenaHe made himself polarizingHe made the NBA polarizingThese whining jocks defending him need to man up and take responsibility. Cant take the heat from the fire they built.
It seemed to be sparked by LeBrons comments after the Timberwolves-Lakers game and his further comments on X.
He was asked who would be the next face of the league and about Anthony Edwards statement at All-Star that he isnt striving to become the face of the NBA.
Channing Frye said it Why do you want to be the face of the league when all the people that cover our game and talk about our game on a day-to-day basis sh*t on everybody?, LeBron asked.
LeBron also posted some further thoughts on the topic before Whitlock had heard enough.
Exactly made my point but anyways. Happy this convo has started. It aint about face of the game and it aint about one person or one show, its about the culture of basketball,, the most beautiful game in the world. Our game has never been better. Incredible young stars from all over the world and some older ones Steph Curry should be all we are talking about today. Lets discuss how great OKC and The Cavs have been this season with 2 completely different styles and break down why and how they have. Of course if players dont perform we need to discuss that too and break that down.
