According to a report by Fightful Select, WWE reportedly expected and planned for the U.S. National Anthem to be booed at Elimination Chamber. Therefore, it was not really a surprise at all.
Elizabeth Irving opened the show by singing The Star-Spangled Banner and O Canada, but the crowds reactions were completely different. The moment she began the U.S. national anthem, loud boos filled the arena. However, as soon as she transitioned into O Canada, the energy changed and the crowd erupted in cheers and were passionately singing along.
After the performance, chants of Canada! echoed throughout the Rogers Centre, showcasing the fans strong national pride. Pat McAfee didnt ignore the reaction, calling it out on commentary and noting how the Toronto crowd made their feelings clear.
