Madison Keys' 2025 has started in a truly incredible way. No one expected the American player to win the first Grand Slam title of her career at the Australian Open, a truly exceptional feat that testifies to her enormous potential at the highest level.

Madison who had already reached the final in a Major at the 2017 US Open was much more ready this time around and achieved the most special victory of her entire career. Her run at Melbourne Park was truly brilliant, considering that she defeated Elena Rybakina, Iga Swiatek and current world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka during those magical two weeks.
Thanks to her 'Down Under' triumph, Keys has entered the Top 5 of the WTA ranking for the first time in her career and is ready to return to action shortly.
The American star has never played since winning the AO and will be one of the top protagonists of the prestigious Indian Wells tournament earlier this month.
Keys is ready
Fans and insiders wonder if herfeat in the first Slam of the season was just accidental, or if Keys can really aspire to reach the top position of the WTA ranking by the end of 2025.

The world number 5 has always played very well in California where she can boast 12 consecutive victories but the tournament organizers have decided to change surface after 25 years (it was decided to switch from 'Plexipave' to 'Laykold').
Speaking on Tennis Channel, former WTA star Andrea Petkovic analyzed Madison's chances at Indian Wells this year: I honestly think if she gets through the first two rounds, she will be very dangerous.
I do think for these type of players who hit the ball so hard in Indian Wells, the first two rounds are very difficult.
She continued: The ball flies, and the thing that we all get wrong, all the professional tennis players in the world, you think you have to then decelerate, because the ball is flying, and you have to accelerate. And if she can figure that out in the first two rounds, she will be very dangerous at Indian Wells.
