Alexander Zverev's 2025 season has taken a fairly negative direction after reaching the final at the Australian Open.

The current world No.2 had ended 2024 in a very bright way, winning the Rolex Paris Masters and overtaking Carlos Alcaraz in second place in the ATP rankings before the end of the season. The German champion had chosen to skip the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga to work hard during the off-season, in order to be ready for the beginning of 2025.
It's no secret that Sascha wants to finally win his first Grand Slam title by the end of this year and reached the final at Melbourne Park, where he showed up with huge ambitions. The ace from Hamburg thought he could defeat Jannik Sinner in the last act of the Happy Slam, instead it was a domination of the world number 1 who prevailed in three sets and annihilated him in every area of the court.

Zverev was really heartbroken at the end of that match and the negative repercussions accompanied him even in the last tournaments he played. Taking advantage of Jannik's suspension, the German star thought he would earn points in February where he participated in three tournaments but the results were disastrous.
Sascha was defeated in the quarterfinals on the red clay of Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro where he never found the best sensations while his run in Acapulco came to a halt in front of the 19-year-old American Learner Tien.
Zverev is not shining
Alexander absolutely must react in the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami, otherwise his crisis would become even more acute and risk affecting the rest of his season as well.
The world number 2 has never particularly shone in California, where he reached the quarterfinals as his career-best result.

Sascha doesn't have particularly tough path potential this year, but he will have to watch out for Tallon Griekspoor in round two. The Dutch ace plays very well on this surface and defeated Daniil Medvedev in Dubai last week.
