In a lengthy Instagram post that was shared over the weekend, the 28-year-old said that he "hit the rock bottom."
Also, the three-time Challenger winner admitted that there are moments when he even doesn't see the point in living anymore.
"The last six months have been some of the hardest that I have had to live as a human being," Gomez wrote.
"Living with thoughts of leaving tennis completely, of really questioning if all this is really worth it and even on several occasions suicidal thoughts of not wanting to live anymore and leave this world, which is very difficult for me to express."
The Argentine also said that he was "crying my eyes out" while writing the message before adding: "But I think it is the best decision I could have made at this time to get rid of this heavy weight that I feel on me and that eats my head 24/7."

Djokovic shares Gomez's Instagram post and sends his support
"Strength friend. There is always light at the end of the tunnel," the Serbian tennis star captioned his Instagram Story.
Even before Djokovic, some very well-known names have thrown their public support behind the world No. 135.
On X, Boris Becker told Gomez to reach out if he wanted to talk about anything or needed advice.
Paula Badosa, who battled major depression early in her career, encouraged the Argentine to keep going and noted that better days were coming for him.
Meanwhile, Gomez played in Indian Wells on Monday, losing his qualifying opener to Rudy Quan.
