Jack Nicklaus is a man who many consider the greatest of all time. The 85-year-old is known as the golfer with the most Majors trophies in his career (18). Winning such competitions is always a special moment that you can never forget. Nicklaus set the bar so high that not even Tiger Woods managed to break this record.

Jack Nicklaus, on the other hand, believes that he could have won more Majors tournaments if only he had listened to his caddy.
In a conversation with Sir Nick Faldo, Jack revealed that in 1960 he had the advantage before the last nine holes, but did not manage to win.
The first one that I finished second in a major was at Cherry Hills. I was an amateur. 20 years old and I had a lead going into the last nine holes, I had a lead with seven holes to play but I finished the last six holes in three over and Arnold won the tournament. He beat me by a couple of shots, Nicklaus said, as quoted by The Golfing Gazette.

Nicklaus, on the other hand, does not look at such a thing negatively, stressing that it was a good thing for him. In the following, Jack progressed as a golfer, although he experienced a similar scenario again, a few years later.

The best thing that ever happened to me was not to win that tournament. Then I got a bit better with some things but did the same thing again at Latham in 1963. I had a two shot lead with two holes to play. I drove it up three wood on 17, had 212 to the hole. Little wind in my face."
His caddie, Jimmy Dickinson, advised him that he didn't need a two-iron. Nicklaus said he needed one to get back in the game. However, Jack later realized he had made a mistake, losing by a shot.
Jack was angry with himself after this moment, but he admits that he learned from such mistakes, striving never to repeat them again.
