The March 4 episode of WWE NXT was a loaded show as they prepared for Roadblock. In the end, they closed out the night with a big North American Title match.
Tony DAngelo has been NXT North American Champion during the October 8 episode of NXT in Saint Louis The Factory. He held the title for a few months, but there were questions about his physical status as he stepped in the ring with Shawn Spears.
The North American Title contest received a big match feel as Lilian Garcia gave them great introductions. The match was also the main event of the night. They traded moves for a bit, and then the two wrestled through a commercial break.
There were a couple close two counts as the contest carried on. Fans in the NXT Arena were very much behind the Don of NXT during this one. The Family eventually brawled with Spears stable, and in the chaos, the Underboss was sent into The Don. That sent Tony D spilling out of the ring. Shawn Spears went to get Tony DAngelo, and he nailed a C4, but he got a very close kickout at two after that one. Stacks was very relieved to see Tony kick out.
Then Shawn Spears lifted Tony DAngelo up for another C4, but Tony got out. Then Spears got a pin after Tonys back gave out during another move. NXT closed out this week with the crowd looking on in disbelief as Shawn Spears was crowned the new champion.
