Jim Ross has called some of the most legendary moments in wrestling history, but apparently, some fans wish he was behind the mic for John Cenas shocking heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber 2025. Now, JR is speaking out about the unexpected demand.

On the latest episode of Grilling JR, Ross acknowledged the fan-made videos circulating on social media that imagined him calling Cenas betrayal in Toronto. While he appreciated the sentiment, he found it odd that people wanted to insert him into the moment instead of appreciating Michael Coles work.

Yeah, its nice. I saw the same thing. Its nice. I feel bad because it takes away from Michael Cole, and thats not the objective, but everybodys got their taste. My delivery and my presentation in moments like that are different, and I dont think that you can replicate them. Thats just me.

Even though he wasnt calling the action, Ross had nothing but praise for Cenas turn, calling it a perfectly timed shocker that took the show to another level.

I liked the hell out of it. I thought it was timely. I thought it made sense. I thought it added to the show. It was a jaw-dropper, to say the least. So, I had no issues with it at all. I thought it was fabulous.

Ross also touched on why a Cena heel turn never happened during his time in WWE. According to him, the idea was floated around plenty, but Vince McMahon wasnt willing to risk Cenas record-breaking merchandise sales.

A lot of people wanted it to happen, but Vince was always very, very reticent in pulling the string on that deal. One of the reasons is what you mentioned, Cenas merchandise numbers were astonishing.

Fans may never hear JRs iconic voice on a Cena heel turn, but its clear his legacy as a commentator still has people wishing he was on the call for WWEs biggest moments.

Would JRs commentary have made Cenas heel turn even better, or does Michael Cole deserve more credit for calling the moment? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
