Naomi Osaka was spraying unforced errors throughout her match against Camila Osorio and later declared it "her worst performance ever" after exiting Indian Wells after only one match played.

On Wednesday evening, the 2018 champion kicked off her sixth main draw campaign in the desert.

And it was all but a good day at the office for the former world No, 1, who hit more than 50 unforced errors en route to picking up a 4-6 4-6 defeat to the world No. 53.

After earning the first break of the match in the ninth game, Osorio sealed the opener in the following game.

Down by a set, Osaka also soon found herself down by a break in the second set but managed to recover.

But instead of building on that, the Japanese kept making mistakes and she lost her serve again in the 10th game before the Colombian served out for the match in the 10th game.

Osaka, Osorio's reactions to the match

"Worst match I've ever played in my life. Wow, I'm so sorry to everyone who watched that," the four-time Grand Slam champion wrote on Threads.

While the 27-year-old Japanese was extremely disappointed with the performance, Osorio was in a completely different mood.

"First, good evening, everyone, I'm Camila Osorio. It's crazy for me, it's a dream come true," the Colombian said in her on-court interview.

"I really wanted to play on this court and was really excited and looking forward to playing a champion like Naomi, so I can't believe it."

For Osaka, this was her first match since she retired at the Australian Open.
