In June of last year, the PGA Tour announced the launch of the Fan Forward program, aimed at fully understanding the expectations and needs of fans and, consequently, introducing the related changes in the management of Tour events.

Well, it seems that it was not an initiative that stopped at a series of formal announcements.

The study of the results of the survey that the PGA Tour conducted among fans has yielded very concrete results.

Pga Tour, advertising

On Tuesday, a press release appeared on the PGA Tour website announcing a very significant change in broadcasting strategies.

Starting with the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, which kicks off today on the Arnold Palmers Bay Hill Club & Lodge course, the number of commercials that currently populate tournament broadcasts in a rather invasive manner will be reduced.

The space freed up by advertising will be dedicated to the transmission of moments, strictly live, of interaction between players and caddies.

The live commentary of these game passages will be integrated with the comments of the tellers on the field and the experts in the studio and by graphics that will provide a robust dose of statistics related to the player in the frame (this last step integrates perfectly with the implementation of ESPN BET, Editor's note).

The choice of the top management of the PGA Tour will certainly not be appreciated by its partners who deal with broadcasting (specifically, NBC and Golf Channel), but it is indisputably the right path to follow to recover the ratings, a sore point of the current season.

The Rules of Golf are a set of rules and standard procedures by which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and administered by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body of golf throughout the world, except in the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association. An expert committee, made up of members of the R&A and the USGA, oversees and refines the Rules every four years. The latest revision was effective January 1, 2016. Changes to the Rules of Golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding of the Rules and those that reduce penalties in certain cases to ensure balance. The rulebook, entitled "The Rules of Golf," is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy, the Federgolf is responsible for supervising competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and managing the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
