Draymond Green absolutely put his foot in it when he ripped Karl-Anthony Towns for skipping out on Warriors vs. Knicks earlier this week.
Green said Towns didnt play because he didnt want to go head-to-head with his former teammate, Jimmy Butler, who had a well publicised falling out with KAT when the pair were teammates in Minnesota.
Some will say he didnt play because maybe because Jimmy was in the building, Green said on his podcast. They said KAT didnt play because Jimmy came into town. Him and Jimmy had the infamous practice in Minnesota. I dont know what was hurt. I didnt look that deep into it to see what his injury was.
Greens rumor backfired, big time. The reason Towns wasnt playing was because his girlfriend Jordyn Woods Aunt Sarah died of breast cancer and he attended the funeral.
This is one of those moments where I had to be there for my family and be there for the kids that lost somebody really special to them, KAT said, via the New York Post.
Ian Begley of SNY weighed in on Greens comments.
Draymond Green suggests on his podcast that Karl-Anthony Towns missed Tuesdays game vs GSW because he wanted to avoid Jimmy Butler. Green casually throwing this out there on his platform without researching the situation is extremely irresponsible, Begley said.
Other people on X also spoke up and certainly didnt hold back.
Draymond ignorantly/maliciously suggests KAT was ducking Jimmy Butler on Tuesday. 1. KAT missed the game to comfort his girlfriend after her aunt died from cancer. 2. KAT played Butler in Miami earlier this season and hung 44 points on the Heat. Fellow players need to call out idiots like Draymond for this (expletive), Tommy Beer of Knicks Centric wrote on X.
