Ric Flair made his way to AEW back in 2023 as he was part of Stings final run in the business. However, The Nature Boy has not appeared on AEWtelevision since the Revolution pay-per-view last year and now he has claimed that he is still working for Tony Khan.
Over the past week, the WWE Hall of Famer has been going after John Cena as he threatened to stop Cena from winning his 17th World Championship. Many assumed this was Flairs way of trying to insert himself back on WWE television.
The Nature Boy took to Twitter and called out Vince Russo for his recent comments about trying to get back on WWE television. Flair claimed that he still works for Tony Khan, calling him a great friend and employer, and he thanked Khan for letting him spend time with his daughter and for understanding why events like the Hall of Fame are important to him.
It is to be noted that Ric Flairs deal with AEW was not a regular contract. Instead of getting paid by AEW, his sponsorship with Wooooo! Energy covered his earnings. This was similar to how WCW used Slim Jim to bring in Randy Savage without paying him directly.
Last year, there were signs that Flairs partnership with AEW had already ended. He was also supposed to appear on the January 4th episode of AEW Collision in Charlotte, North Carolina, but those plans were canceled.
Ric Flairs future in professional wrestling remains uncertain. While he claims he still works for AEW, his absence from television proves otherwise right now. Whether Flair will make another appearance for Tony Khans promotion or make his way back to WWE is something fans will get to know in the future.
