Will Ospreay isnt one to throw around bold claims about being the best wrestler alivebut there was one moment he made an exception, and it had nothing to do with a six-star match or an AEW main event.
In a sit-down interview with Chris Van Vliet, Ospreay touched on a range of topics, including his AEW Revolution showdown with Bryan Danielson, Triple H throwing shade at him, and the wear and tear his body has taken over the years. But when asked if he considers himself the best in the world, his response was surprisingly modest.
Yeah, of course not. Im confident in my abilities, and Im confident with my audience. Does that make me the best? I dont know. Because I feel like the best is now so widely spread. Are you the guy that draws the most? Are you the guy that shifts the most merch? Are you best bell to bell? And Ill just go Im the best.
But there was one moment where Ospreay called himself one of the bestand it had nothing to do with the wrestling business. It happened while he was with his son at a Cirque du Soleil show at Londons Royal Albert Hall.
I was out with my kid watching Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall, and a guy came up and he takes a photo with me. Then Harry goes, Why does that happen all the time?
I was just like, I dont know how to explain it to him, because hes six, and I have the mental capacity of a six-year-old. So I went, You know I do wrestling. Hes like, Yeah. I said, Im like the best. Thats the only way I could put it.
Despite his reputation as one of wrestlings most electrifying performers, Ospreay admits that age is catching up with him. Moves that once came easylike the Shooting Star Pressare now taking a serious toll.
My body has locked up so I am having to change my wrestling style accordingly.
Ospreay may not call himself the best, but theres no denying his impact. His evolution as a performer, both physically and mentally, shows just how much hes dedicated to the sport. But what do you think?
