Nick Kyrgios is dropping retirement hints again as this time the Australian suggests it's time for him to accept that he is "not the same player anymore" and enjoy the last moments of his career.

After posting career-best results in 2022 and being considered a legitimate contender for the biggest titles in 2023, the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up was let down by his body and played only one tournament during the 2023 and 2024 seasons due to knee and wrist surgeries.
While Kyrgios didn't want to rush his comeback and used all of last year to try to get back to feeling fully healthy and pain-free, it hasn't worked out - at least not so far. In each of his three tournaments this year, the 29-year-old felt pain and discomfort in his wrist. And after being forced to retire against Botic van de Zandschulp in the Indian Wells Masters first round, he covered his face and became emotional.
Kyrgios: You are a new player, enjoy whatever is left in this tennis journey...
Gotta let go of what was. You are a new person, new player now, the seven-time ATP winner wrote on TikTok only a day after retiring injured in Indian Wells.

"It aint easy, but you have to enjoy whatever is left in this tennis journey. Im a competitor, I always think Im capable and I always want to play my best.
But that also stems frustration and anger to myself - I have to be kinder - it is a blessing to still be able to play this sport that has given me so much.
Before his Indian Wells retirement, Kyrgios picked up first-round losses in Brisbane and the Australian Open so he is 0-3 in 2025.
In his post-match presser in the desert, he confirmed he would try to recover for the Miami Masters which starts on March 19th but made no guarantees that he would be able to play.
During the Australian Open, Kyrgios also hinted at retiring after saying that playing with pain and being unable to play his game was making tennis unenjoyable for him.
