Elina Svitolina took to social media to express gratitude to the Indian Wells public but also all the Americans who are supporting Ukraine and solidifying with the Ukrainians.

So far this week, the current world No. 23 has had a great week on and off the court in Indian Wells. On the court, the Ukrainian tennis star beat Ashlyn Krueger and Danielle Collins to reach the round-of-16 and set up a meeting against Jessica Pegula - all while receiving nice support from the fans.
Off the court, Svitolina had people approach her with some kind words.
And the 30-year-old felt it would be proper for her to publicly acknowledge all of that support and highlight that it means the world to her.
"Dear friends in the USA from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your unwavering support. Your kindness and solidarity remind me that even in the darkest times, we are not alone. Your compassion fuels our hope and inspires us to keep striving for a brighter future together," the 2023 Wimbledon semifinalist wrote in a message posted on her X account.

Svitolina was 'pleasantly surprised' with her reception in Indian Wells
After overcoming local player Krueger in her opener, the former world No. 3 said she was "pleasantly surprised" with her reception in the desert.
"Absolutely, the support on court was amazing. Even before the match, people approached me and shared encouraging words. Many have reached out through social media. To be honest, I'm pleasantly surprised. It's great that people support us and stand with Ukrainians," Svitolina said.
In her next match, she plays against Pegula, who is home favorite in Indian Wells. However, considering how the locals have been supporting the Ukrainian tennis star so far, there is no doubt that she will receive some kind of support in her next match as well.
