Roman Reigns influence has transcended beyond the world of professional wrestling, especially when it comes to his moves being performed outside the ring. In fact, it appears that Toronto Maple Leafs Simon Benoit hit a Superman Punch during a recent game.
During the Toronto Maple Leafs recent game against the Arizona Coyotes, Benoit fought defenseman Michael Kesselring and ended up hitting a Superman Punch on Kesselring as things got heated up.
The fight began right after the faceoff, showing that both players had planned it. As soon as the puck dropped, Benoit jumped forward and threw a Superman punch, and the move surprised Kesselring, but he quickly recovered, after which both players started trading punches.
They hit each other with hard shots, with Benoit attacking aggressively while Kesselring defended himself and fought back. The crowd cheered as the fight continued until the referees stepped in to stop it.
Obviously, a lot of people noticed the NHL player hitting Roman Reigns move, and even NXT referee Darryl Sharma took to Twitter and acknowledged the move, as he said, Simon Benoit with the Roman Reigns Superman Punch!
Roman Reigns Superman Punch is one of WWEs most famous moves, and seeing it in an NHL fight shows how much wrestling has influenced other sports. With more athletes taking inspiration from WWE, it will be interesting to see if more players start using the move outside of wrestling.
