Carlos beat Daniil 7-6, 6-1 for a 16-2 score in the desert. He increased it to 18-2 following two wins inthis year's campaign. The 21-year-old defeated Quentin Halys and Denis Shapovalov in straight sets, improving his winning streak at this tournament to 14.
The Spaniard did not lose a set in the opening two encounters, and he will be the favorite versus Grigor Dimitrov in the last 16. World no. 3is chasing his first Masters 1000 in a year, lifting his fifth trophy in Indian Wells before losing ground a bit.
