Swerve Strickland has certainly shown the world he is one of the best wrestlers right now, and theres a reason why he ended up signing a lucrative contract with AEW last year. In fact, Strickland has now confirmed the length of his contract.
During the Zero Hour pre-show at AEW All In last year, it wasrevealed that Swerve Strickland had signed a contract extension with AEW. It was then reported that Swerve Stricklands new multi-year contract with AEW would keep him with the company until at least 2028, though the exact duration was not publicly known at the time. This deal was seen as one ofthe most significant in AEWs history.
While speaking to Bootleg Kev, Swerve Strickland confirmed that he is signed to AEW till 2029. Strickland made it clear that AEW is where he wants to be. While he acknowledged that every job comes with frustrating moments, he believes he handles those challenges at AEW better than anywhere else. He also mentioned that he and Tony Khan work through any issues together.
Strickland made it clear that he truly wants to be in AEW and isnt just saying it for publicity. Strickland admitted that not every day is perfect, but compared to his time in Lucha Underground, MLW, WWE, and NXT, he handles challenges better in AEW. He likes having creative freedom but also sees times when things could have been better. For him, always giving his best is a must.
Swerve Strickland defeated Ricochet to become the new #1 contender for Jon Moxleys AEW World Championship, so he is now focused on facing off against Moxley at AEW Dynasty. Since its confirmed Strickland will stick with AEW for a long time now, well have to wait and see how he will continue to be booked as we head towards AEW Dynasty.
