Seth Rollins dropping Freakin from his name wasnt just a one-off changeWWE has now removed multiple superstar monikers from its official roster.
Under Vince McMahons creative leadership, talent nicknames were heavily emphasized, with stars being referred to by their full branding on TV and social media. However, with Triple H now running the show, it looks like WWE is phasing that out.
In addition to Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed has lost Big from his name, and Dominik Mysterio is no longer being billed as Dirty Dominik Mysterio. WWE.com has already updated their profiles, reflecting the change.
Rollins shift first caught fans attention after his Steel Cage Match against CM Punk on the March 10 edition of Raw on Netflix. The Freakin branding had disappeared from his entrance graphic, and now, with WWE removing other stars nicknames, its clear this is a broader company decision.
With WWE moving away from these monikers, the question now is whether this marks a larger shift in branding.
Do you think WWE is making the right call by dropping these nicknames, or should they have kept them? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
