Scott DAmore wanted to see TNA Wrestling succeed, but the company had other plans. Now, over a year after his exit, DAmore has confirmed that TNA paid him for a full year after letting him go in February 2024.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, DAmore admitted that he was blindsided by the decision. I wanted to stay there. I wanted to see it through. I felt we could get TNA where it needed to be, and ultimately, Len Asper decided that wasnt the path he wanted to take. So, I took a years pay and took the shot on the chin at getting fired, he said.
DAmore had been deeply involved in the companys rebranding from IMPACT Wrestling back to TNA, and being removed from his role just four weeks after the relaunch was a bitter pill to swallow. It really was more of a shot in the gut because I put so much energy into it, he admitted. It hurt, but looking back now, a year-plus later I still would have liked to stay there and seen it through, but there are so many blessings that I look at.
Since leaving TNA, DAmore has shifted his focus to Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, which has upcoming events on March 14 and 15. The promotion is also set to run a show in May at the historic Mattamy Athletic Centre, formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens.
He also reflected on his emotions after being let go, saying, At first, I was pissed, and two, I was mind-blown. But at the end of the day, business is business, and its not my company. I didnt own it, so any time you dont own it, you dont have the final say.
With his time at TNA officially behind him, DAmore is now embracing new opportunities, including relaunching the Can-Am Wrestling Dojo in a bigger way.
