Jack Draper is through to his first Indian Wells quarter-final. The 23-year-old faced the former champion Taylor Fritz in the fourth round and scored a rock-solid 7-5, 6-4 victory in an hour and 18 minutes.

The 13th seed claimed seven straight games from 4-5 in the opening set to break the rival's resistance and remain on the title course. Draper dominated with his first serve, taking 32 of 35 points! He faced one break point after already buildinga massive advantage.
Taylor served at 70% but dropped33% of the points in his games. The home player faced four break points and suffered three consecutive breaks to hit the exit door.
Draper landed 24 winners and17 unforced errors. Fritz remained on a 19-19 ratio, raising his level a bit when it was already too late to turn the tables. Jack took an 18-16 lead in service winners and claimed six points more from the baseline.
Nothing separated them in the mid-range and most advanced rallies. The Briton took charge in the shortest exchanges and earned his win in that segment. They provided ten comfortable holds at the beginning of the encounter.

Fritz landed an ace in the ninth game for a hold at love, and Draper responded with a forehand down the line winner in the next one for 5-5. The Briton stepped in on the return in the 11th game. He claimed an entertaining rally and generated two break chances.
The American sent a backhand wide on the first, dropping serve and falling behind. A left-hander served for the opener at 6-5 and drew the rival's mistake with a backhand attack for 7-5 in 38 minutes.
Carried by this boost, Jack cracked a forehand down the line winner in the first game of the second set for another break and moreconfidence. The 13th seed closed the second game with a volley winner to extend his streak.

Not stopping there, Draper created a break chance in the third game after Fritz's wayward forehand. The former champion sprayed another forehand error, dropping serve for the third straight time and moving closer to the exit door.

The Briton painted a forehand winner in the fourth game, cementing another break and rattling off his seventh game. A left-hander clinched the seventh game after a deuce with a smash winner, forging a 5-2 advantage and keeping the pressure on the other side.
Taylor held at love in the seventh game to extend the duel and made his only push on the return in the next one. The American created break points with a crafty volley winner and welcomed the rival's double fault on the first to reduce the gap to 5-3.

The home favorite landed a forehand winner in the ninth game, taking his third game in a row and reducing the gap to 5-4. Jack served for the win for the second time in game ten. He attacked with his forehand and drew the rival's mistake for two match points.
