The level that Carlos Alcaraz showed in his first three matches at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 can scare all his opponents.

The former world No.1 looks really on fire and plans to become the third man in the Open Era to win this title three years in a row after Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

His rivals are struggling a lot to contain the Spaniard's tennis on this surface, which has perhaps become slower than in previous years.

The 4-time Grand Slam champion feels perfectly at home in California and not even the organizers' decision to change surface after 25 years has stopped his dominance.

Alcaraz will face Cerundolo

The 21-year-old from Murcia must stay focused if he wants to lift the trophy again this year, but all the conditions seem to be in place for another memorable run in the first Masters 1000 of the season.

His opponent in the quarterfinals will be Francisco Cerundolo, who is comfortable in these particularly slow conditions and who eliminated the Australian ace Alex de Minaur in the round of sixteen.

Alcaraz and Cerundolo have faced each other only once on the professional tour, at the Queen's Club last year, with the Spaniard prevailing shortly after winning Roland Garros for the first time in his career.

"If I had to express my opinion on the conditions in Indian Wells where I feel really good I would say that they are similar to those in Barcelona and Madrid. I love these tournaments and I've always played my best tennis so far," explained Carlitos, who also handled the wind very well during his match against Grigor Dimitrov yesterday.

"I've always liked to play when it's windy, because I know how to adapt my game quite quickly to these situations. I know that I have remarkable athletic skills and that there are no balls that are impossible for me to reach" concluded the world number 3.

The Spaniard seems calm and - at the same time - determined to complete his mission in California.
